-Mephisto

Welcome to

Wand by Mephisto

Mephisto the Master has been a professional fire eater and stage performer for over a third of a century. He is also a 15-year Solitary Priest, a legally ordained minister, and experienced finishing carpenter and cabinetmaker, with a lifelong interest in fine woodworking. Born in Minnesota and currently living in Wyoming, he has traveled the country extensively in his performing business, and occasionally gathers wood from various localities.

"Wands by Mephisto" are his response to a proliferation of high-priced, low-quality, mass-produced  "wizard wands" on the market today.  He rarely uses lumber or factory-processed woods, choosing instead "found" woods or recently felled trees. Any part of a tree or bush may be used, from high branches to roots. The face, head, or animal is first carved into the handle, and then the wand itself is cut to length and tapered to size. In this manner, the carving stands out from the shaft, rather than being cut into it.

Besides the elaborately carved wands, Mephisto also offers a more economical, lathe-turned wand, also entirely hand-made on a small benchtop lathe and hand-finished. All but the cheapest "children's" wands are tipped with quartz crystal for energy concentration. He is currently experimenting with copper and brass inlays to assist in boosting energy from handle to crystal, and with putting  a "secret compartment" in some wands -into which herbs, incense, or  small personal items such as a hair or nail clipping may be inserted, giving the wand an extra edge of personal energy for the owner. But this is a personal matter for the owner of the wand.  Consecrating or empowering is left to the wand?s ultimate owner. No "pre-empowerment" of any sort or inclusion of such "enchantments" as unicorn hair, phoenix feather, griffin or dragon body parts is ever claimed.
